In Süßwasser von Mitteleuropa von Ettl et al., Band 1 (von ca. 25), von K. Starmach: Crysophyceae und Haptophyceae ist auf Seite 273 zu den Dynobryonaceae gehörig, ein sehr ähnlicher Organismus abgebildet Bild 558. In der Beschreibung ist aber leider angegeben, daß der Kerl 6-8 µ lang und 5,5 µ breit sein soll, an der Mündung 2,5 bis 3,5 µ breit Gehäusewand braun gefärbt, glatt mit 3-4 Querleisten. Zelle mit wandständigem Chromatophor, ohne Stigma, mit zwei ungleichen Geißeln und mit zwei pulsierenden Vakuolen. Gefunden in Teichen und Seen (Frankreich, Dänemark). - Vielleicht ist Deiner ja schon ausgewachsen!

es gibt ähnliche Zysten der Suktorien-Gattung Podophrya, die aber weniger "Ringe" haben und einen Stiel. Der könnte ja abgebrochen sein.

Danke danke. Yes, it does indeed look like a suctorean cyst without a stalk (broken?). I was hoping somebody could convince me ;-)

Same sample as for the naked amoebe. It's not in a healthy state, after been on the bench at room temperature for the last 10 days. The usual things, small ciliates, some heliozoans, nuclearids, vorticelloids. Nothing I can relate to this cyst.

Klaus, unfortunately no chlorophyll present  
Otherwise, a possibly giant chrysophyte would make my day

I've been through the Curds series (A revision of the Suctoria), and the (open) lorica of Crossacineta ornata did show some resemblance. At the time not enough to trigger an 'Aha' Erlebnis. But a google seach on Acineta ornata does show a closed lorica: http://www.readera.org/article/nahodka-acineta-ornata-ciliophora-suctorea-v-ochystnyh-sooruzhenyjah-y-10224131.html. Might send Dovgal an email. If I can still find his email address since that stuff going on in the Krim...

Igor Dovgal replied within a couple of hours: 'For cyst morphology it's most like to Podophrya libera Perty, 1852'.
I'll keep it at Podophrya sp. Matter closed for now...
