If you put the fresh material in to the refrigerator, you can cut it later very easy. Use astrablue and safranin for staining.

ein schönes Schnittbild! Ich zähle 28 Ringe. Vor zwei Jahren schnitten mir Waldarbeitern paar Scheiben von alten, gefällten Bäumen ab. Geplant war, sie poliert und lackiert, gewissermaßen wie Bilder, an die Wand zu hängen. Daraus wurde aber nix (zur heimlichen Freude meiner Frau ;D ). Trotz aller Trocknungsmühen und -tricks war nicht zu verhindern, daß alle radial breit einrissen. >:(
