for example Melosira varians, Asterionella, Cyclotella,Diatoma,Meridion, Tabellaria, Synedra, Stephanodiscus produce very strong odors(see Whipple,1933)

Im Ergebnis ist dies die erste Studie, die A. gracile als PSP-Toxin Produzent in deutschen Gewässern identifiziert. Als Produzent von nicht-PSP-Toxin A. issatschenkoi, A. flos-aquae, A. planktonischen und Anabaenopsis sp. sxtA Stämme besaß auch das Gen Gruppe von Saxitoxin Gene, ist es wahrscheinlich, dass andere Arten nostocalean in deutschen Wasserkörper können auch Lähmungen hervorrufende Vergiftung Toxine verursachen.
