Hi Kalle,
It's unlikely that a cheap camera will give you "better" images without a good optical adaptation as well. The quality of the sensor of the LG Nexus 5 is likely to be quite good.
There are two things to this: image quality and the necessity for focus stacking. Do you want to do photography of coins (3-dimensional surface) or of transparent objects (flat, 2D only)?
For coin photography, you should think about a different set-up. A camera with macro lens or a reversed lens and probably also focus stacking. It's important to have a good diffuser (paper cup or ping-pong ball: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/569_09215_1.jpg ) to cut the highlights. Here is more information on using a microscope stand for stacking http://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/index.php?;topic=21965.0 This might not be possible with the Laboval 2 as it has a combi focus drive and no separate fine focus.
If you want to get better images from transparent objects (transmitted illumination) a coin isn't a good test object.
Please let us know what you want to do!
Regards,
Jon
