Making custom Zeiss eyepieces 2x large FOV ?
"Egen Zeiss 2x Okulare machen durch entfernen Originale Zeiss Linsen"
Hallo
Zeiss eyepieces have the 5x as minimum magnification=lowest zoom available...I want lower ;D (barrel size Ø23.2mm)
[5x, 6.3x, 10x, 12.5x, 16x, 20x, 25x,...]
- Can I create my own eyepieces like for example 2x by removing (Entfernen) Lenses from existing Zeiss eyepieces ?
- Lowest Zeiss objective lens is 3.2x so I could get 3.2x*2x=6,4x (magnification) for coin(Munzen) viewing with large FOV.
Hello Kalleboy,
you are using the wrong type of microscope.
Google "numismatic microscope" and watch the pictures.
Look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereo_microscope
Please don't destroy the oculars.
regards,
Georg
For a 2x ocular you need a eyelens of 120mm focal length in a distance of 120mm.
Look at wikipedia "eyepiece"
Try to understand the optical basics.

Hi,
if you really want a 2x eyepiece (whyever?), there are 125mm Mipro and Projektiv eye pieces.
It's Zeiss West compensating not Jena, but it shoudn't make much difference.
Just to complete the list: There was a K3x (SFZ 23).
Others by Carl Zeiss Jena are the Compens No. 1, (180mm, ca. 1.6x) Compens No. 2, (90mm, ca. 3.1x), ca. 100 year old optics... newer saw a No. 1 in reality.
I would not use any of them for viewing, the viewing angle is too small.
I don't see any potential in reconfigurating optics...
Greetings
Jens
