Titel: Leitz parfocality
Beitrag von: Rene in Oktober 15, 2017, 01:17:44 VORMITTAG
Guys, I've got a nice PlApo 25×/0.65, which is too short by about 0.9 mm, compared to all other 45 mm Leitz lenses I have, including 170mm with same lettering, and newer 160mm. Does anyone recognize this? It is a rather old one, with red couloured c before the serial number.
Does anybody have shims (spacers) for sale?

Thanks, Rene

Hi Rene,

We had a thread here about this previously. Unfortunately, I can't find it. As far as I remember, someone else had noticed this, although 0.9 mm in your case is a lot!

The Leitz 25:1 are (?sometimes) a bit too short. I have one that's too short, too. I even have a Leica 25x that isn't parfocal. Maybe this is a feature of Leitz/Leica? Maybe for swapping between a 25:1 dry objective and a 100:1 oil?

Regards,

Jon

Hi Rene, Jon,

This is interesting. I have not yet come across a Leitz 45 mm objective that was not parfocal. And I have quite a few Leitz lenses. If that objective is spring loaded maybe it's not fully retracted?

ZitatMaybe this is a feature of Leitz/Leica?

I find that difficult to believe from such a great company like Leitz. Leica, maybe. But Leitz? But then again, everyone makes mistakes from time to time............
Best regards,

Rolf

mmhm, solution might be on its way. Something to do with an internal ring which might have been swapped between different lenses. Clue: the previous owner had a Leitz lens which was slightly too long. 1+1=hopefully 2  ;)
