Dear friends,
This is my first post on this forum, although I have consulted it very often looking for information to ID my findings.
I found this organism in a freshwater sample from a small river in Cáceres (Spain).
Se puede observar en este vídeo:
At first glance, I thought this organism was a Cyrtophorid because I mistook its clear pharyngeal apparatus for a cyrtos or nassa. Then I noticed the large posterior CV and (in dark field) hints of a macronucleus that looks oval or rounded. These features make me think of a Prostomatid, almost certainly a Holophryid (once again!). In that case, we do not have a cyrtos but a pharyngeal basket .
Am I right? If not, what could it be? If yes, can we at least get closer to the genus?
Incidentally, the organisms around are Oxytricha haematoplasma, if I am right.
Thank you everyone for any help!
