Titel: rubber eyecups detached from eyepiece
Beitrag von: hhuijbre in Juli 09, 2010, 20:51:41 NACHMITTAGS
Hello

Some time ago I bought a Leitz Laborlux S with periplan eyepieces. The rubber eyecups where however detached from the eyepiece itself.  I did try several brands of glue but sooner or later the eyecups always fell off again. Does anybody has experience with a glue that will keep the eyecup and eyepiece together?

Thank you,

Hans

Hi Hans,

did you try Neoprenkleber? I don´t have experience with eyecup rubber,
but in my experience Neoprenkleber is quite capable when it comes to
glueing rubber. You can get it in shops for diving equipment, or ask
a cobbler, even baumarkts should have it.

Most important thing is to have the surfaces clean and fat-free,
prep with acetone and don´t touch!
Second important thing is to enlarge the surface by thorough use
of sanding paper.

best regards

Hello!

What's about silicone glue or a little bit or normal sanitary silicone?

Best regards
Peter

hmmm...
the mean problem is, that rubber glues will do only, if one rubber surface shall be glued to another
rubber surface.
But...hhuijbre wants to fix a rubber surface to anodized aluminium (normally used on costructions
of eyepieces).
My proposal ist to head to an old-fashinoned repair shop for shoes and to ask there for a
glue named 'KOEFULFIX'. It is sold in green-white tubes. That glue is a general purposal glue
fo fix gum on leather, leather on steel, and rubber on metal surfaces as well.
Good luck.
Regards,
-JS-

Hey JS,

you´re wrong! Glue like neoprenkleber will stick to metal, glass and plastic quite well,
except of course PE, POM, PP, Teflon and such.

On the other hand you are not that wrong! Guess what kind of glue kövulfix is?
Right, it´s neoprenkleber!

Kind regards
