Was ich hier zeige sind Technovitschnitte von Viscum album. Mistletoe ist mehr als ein Weinachtsornament. It also gave me something to do during Christmas break.
My microscope is a Reichert Polyvar with plan obj 4x,10x, 20x, 40x, 50x oil and 100x oil. Camera Canon 1000 back. Ich habe fixiert fur 24 St. in formalin pH7 und dann microwaved 2x 10 Min. auf Eis. Danach habe ich entwassert via Ethanol und eingebettet in Technovit 7100. Schnitte gemacht mit ein AO800 Mikrotom, ungefähr 5 um. Gefarbt 15 Sek mit Toluidin Blau.
Viscum album's stem, in this case only 3 mm thick, had an impressive amount of wooden depositions in the xylem. And strong bundles of sklerenchymatous tissue mostly outside the phloem area (https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_55345753.jpg).
When observed under polarized light, xylem and sklerenchyme were double breaking as well as a zillion of small crystals (https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_54583381.jpg)
A quick look at epidermis of a leaf showed an abundant number of stomata., some covered by a thin(?) layer of wax. Interesting to note that the cuticula stains green with TB.(https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_23326130.jpg) and (https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_16847240.jpg)
Then I took a flower, and found only a male one.
Multiple pollensacks inside a 3 mm flowerbud (https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_19648217.jpg), quickly discovering that again crystals that are situated between the pollensacks ruined my expensive knife

The pollen however were beautiful under fluorescent light using 20x obj. (https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/pictures002/55072_52127629.jpg)
At higher magniification (50 x obj, oil)) more details were visible.

The size of the pollen is appr. 30 um
