Dear all, can somebody explain to me the difference between oligohalob and oligohaline??
Thanks, Rene
Hallo René,
as far as I know:
Oligohaline = water with little salt;
Ologohalob = organism, e.g. alga, with little tolerance to salt.
Try these topics also with Google.
Aha, it could be a measurement of tolerance. Hmm. This is from vdWerff, for example he describes ecology of Amhipleura pellucida as oligohalob, euryhalien, eutrafent and alkalifiel. All terms except oligohalob are described with exact ranges but for this halobity.
Thanks, Rene
Really awful, those terminologists!!!
