Liebe Diatomeen- Kenner
Mit meinem neuen "Spielzeug", das nun auch DIK bietet, habe ich folgende Erstaufnahme einer Diatomeenschale gemacht:
Trotz intensivem Googeln ist mir eine sichere Zuordnung nicht geglückt. Könnte es eine Campyloneis grevillei darstellen?

Is it a stacked image, extant material, freshwater?

It is a pile admission (DIC) of a preparation.
I look for those latin designation of these Diatomeen.

Hallo Urs, amazing that no-one recognized this typical species. I found it in the end in the Stidolph atlas as Campylodiscus fastuosus, see the Galapagos pages at http://www.awi.de/index.php?id=5587. Great image btw. Apparently it is wide spread in the (North) Atlantic.
Please supply more info on habitat, source of material etc next time,

Da bin ich froh, dass ich Dir in Deutsch antworten kann. :-) Als Generalist betreibe ich neben Mikroskopie auch Astronomie, Modellflug, Motorradfahren, Amateurfunk und viele andere Dinge. Aber Sprachen lernen.... >:(
