Dear users,

We are interested in converting analogue microscopes to digital ones which can do difficult repetitive tasks automatically; currently we have progressed to do such an automation for focus-stacking ( please have a look at our website www.ergodic-labs.com ).

We would like to know your expert ideas on what other techniques would be interesting to implement and if such a product is potentially interesting for you?

Looking forward to your replies :)

Hello.

Automatic object tracking from fast plankton individues is a good idea.

Best luck, Jorrit.

Hello Jorrit :D

Thank you for your reply :D It a very interesting and challenging task to do! Maybe we can discuss it with more details. What we have in mind [after a quick brainstorming ;) ] has two levels of automation:

- One would be capturing images repeatedly with a desired frequency and analysing them (online or offline),
- and the more interesting task would be to capture images, analyse them, and based on this (online) analysis if the object of interesting is moving out of the view window (focus area), one automatically adjusts the stage of the microscope in response to the motion of the desired object.

This later one would be attractive when the object moves very fast! and it is unfortunately only possible if the stage of the microscope has x-y motion.

It would be really nice if you can let us know in more details what would be suitable for your work, or if you find the above ideas relevant in general.

For our little research in this amazing field of microphotography it is really appreciated if you can tell us whether you do this tracking as a hobby or as a part of a job? Do you think it Is this an interesting task for hobbiest? what about research groups if you know them.

Looking forward to your reply :D

Hi Jörg,

Thanks a lot! We are looking forward to it! By April, we are hoping to add more features to our device based on the suggestions we receive here.
It will be an interesting session with hands on and the demo.

Best,
Jaber
