Hello everyone,

I found on the internet the file of a "USAF 1951" resolution target that I reworked on photoshop.
Here is the file with a size of 9400 x 10000 pixels in gif format:      https://postimg.cc/PPh7fT5d
My concern now is to find a solution to print this file in formats of 36x24 mm, 23x15 mm and 18x13 mm and smaller, at a very high resolution (I think 2000 dpi minimum would be good).
If you have an idea, I am very interested...

While waiting for me to find a solution, here is a comparative test between a Nikon BE plan 10x 0.25 lens and a Mitutoyo M plan apo 10x 0.28 lens.
I photographed on my macro bench the central part "1 DIV = 0.01mm" of a microscope calibration slide:

The Nikon 10x and Mitutoyo 10x lenses are coupled with a Canon 70 200 f2.8 L tube lens and the camera is a Canon 5DmkII.
I did not do any focus stacking or any post-production correction except for having cropped the photos so that they are the right size for the forum and at 100% (1 capture pixel = 1 screen pixel).

Mitutoyo M plan apo 10x 0.28 :

Here is also a comparison between the two lenses with as subject a very small fly that measures no more than 3 mm and that was walking on apples in my kitchen.
I photographed it with the Nikon 10x lens and the Mitutoyo 10x lens in exactly the same conditions then I processed the results in post-processing with exactly the same parameters.

Hello everyone,

I have not found a solution to print the "USAF 1951" resolution target to date and in any case I would need a system that would have at least 4000 dpi resolution or more which is impossible to find I think.
I will rather take this: https://www.edmundoptics.com/p/usaf-resolution-target-pocket-size/4389?
which will perhaps make an optimal calibration target. I will have to test it to see . . . but nothing urgent for me because I wanted to test my recently acquired Mitutoyo M plan apo 5x and 10x lenses but with photos of real subjects, I am now certain that they are optically correct by comparing them with my Nikon BE plan 10x 0.25 lens. as shown in the post above.
Best regards,
FRanck
