Dear all,

I'm find axiovert 100m microscope on the ebay market.
Objective lens list are LD achroplan 20x/0,40 korr. , LD archroplan 40x/0,60 korr. and LD achroplan 63x/0,75 korr with each DIC prism.
I am planning to purchase three objective lenses, and they include a DIC prism. I am concerned about whether these will allow me to observe the fine structures of diatoms and microorganisms effectively for my intended purpose.
I have Jenalumar and DIC sets, and I hope the Axiovert will provide higher resolution images. I would like to know how the resolution of images observed with these objective lenses compares to LD Plan-Neofluar when viewing diatoms.
Additionally, if I later replace LD Achroplan with LD Plan-Neofluar, I would like to know if I can still use the existing DIC prism.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Changhee,
I don't have DIC and I could be wrong, but these contrast enhancement systems generally have a lower resolution than common apochromatic objectives. For example, phase contrast does not resolve certain diatoms. It's possible that DIC is better because it has a similar effect to oblique illumination, I don't know.
I'm also waiting for the experts' opinion.
Best regards.

Hi,

Those LD-objectives feature a limited NA. Resolution is less than objectives for upright microscopes. As higher the NA as higher the resolution. The Axiovert can't beat your Jenalumar on resolution.

Neufluars require different DIC-prisms than Achroplans. Maybe you have luck with the same prisms but it is a risky game.
