Hi Ariel,
Do you scan large amounts of "raw" probe material bit by bit, in order to find something interesting, or do yo use some techniques and tricks, to sort them out on the forehand?
Greetings Holger

Hello Holger,
yes, I use a stereo microscope (Olympus SZH10) to browse the sample.
I draw a thin layer in a 6cm petri dish, and its a very quick and eficient way to scan large volumes of water.
with the 2x objective i can easily see and isolate 10-20μm specimens, even recognizing Amoeba.
Most of the time I can see the genus in the stereo, but if nor, or its something that I dont know, it goes to the inverted thats near by.
Here is an old video documenting a scan-

Hi Ariel,

Do you have a literature reference for the figure you show in the post above?

Thanks,
