Tabakmosaikvirus

Hallo,

im Kremer "Kosmos-Buch der Mikroskopie" ist der Versuch das Tabakmosaikvirus im polarisierten Licht zu betrachten
beschrieben. Als Ausweichpflanze zur Tabakpflanze (die ich nicht besitze) ist der Weihnachtskaktus genannt.
Dieser gehört zu meinen wenigen Zimmerpflanzen.

Findet man das Virus nur an erkrankten Pflanzen oder ist es tats. auch latent in allen Pflanzen vorhanden?
Konnte es bisher nicht entdecken.

No, only in sick plants, the plant will stop the spread, generally by necrosis (I'm not so good on TMV). I have never heard of 'latent' TMV, you should look for necrotic spots/dots in plants, TMV goes via the veins, I believe. In reasonably healthy tissue, virus will accumulate in hyaline bits of cytoplasm, as it is very densely packed with virus rods, I can imagine it will do something in pol. Interesting. I'l try and find some old images.
