Have to confess: I'm still practicing my normal Bright Field and Phaco skills, but bumped into an Olympus BH2 NC DIC set on E... I could not resist.

It was marked "New in Box", the price was .. well "OK" so I took the plunge. Condenser + Slider and Holder.  It arrived within a week.
The set was not new but in OK condition (only minor usage marks, more a demo unit).

Well the grease was totally hardened: so the slider would not move 1 mm and the condenser was "stubborn".

With help of Anne, Ole and Michael (Michael even dismounted his own set and opened it up to take pictures) plus the seller (he did the same and send several  pictures and video's) I managed to get it going and clean the old grease.

Looks like I'm good to go now. Feed Back appreciated.

Some of my initial pictures (Stacked with Picolay-auto and some post processing with Lightroom: no sharpening - think I overdid the contrast a bit). Both shots identical processing.

First shot is Bright field stack of 9, second shot is DIC stack of 8, both SPlan 40* na 0.70.

Next step: get me some living pond samples (protozoa).
Reading the German language is OK for me, writing is a different matter though: my apologies.

A few Olympus BH2 and CH2 stands with DIC and phase optics.
I used to say "The correct number of scopes to own is N+1 (With N is the number currently owned)", as a pensioner the target has changed in n-1.

Lieber Maarten,

Would appreciate to know the name of the diatom: it is from your Japan slide.

Best, Maarten
