Hi
I didn't find Olympus BH2 DIC components. Thus I decided to buy Leica DM 2000.

I think to set up DIC system on Leica DM 2000 new. It includes U-CA condenser and microscope base components. It doesn't include DIC prisms and objectives. I will buy them as second hand or used later. I am curiosity that are Leitz objectives compatible with Leica DM 2000. If it is possible, could you explain compatibility or alternatif objectives?

How is Leica DM 2000 microscope for DIC?

best regards

Hi Solos,

I also use a Leica DM2000 LED for DIC, and I like it. The availability of used DIC prisms is quite good, I also bought parts of my setup used. If you buy the right objectives, you will need only one prism on the objectives slot. In my case "D", which works for 20x, 40x and 100x HC PL Fluotar.

Thank you very much for rapid response. I don't think to trinocular, because my budget is limited. I will take photos from ocular via my mobile phone or 5mp china camera vithin ocular.

Hello solo42,

Zitat
I am curiosity that are Leitz objectives compatible with Leica DM 2000.

?

Of course Leitz objectives (160mm-System) are NOT compatible to the Leica DM 2000 which needs Leica infintiy optics! Do you already have a Leica DM 2000 oder do you want to buy it?

Peter

In my experience, even good cameras have quite some problems rendering the colors of a DIC-setup properly. On the camera display, I never get the same (impressive) colour-impression as when looking through the eyepieces. In post-processing it is rather easy to adjust the colour of the digital images properly, but as-recorded colours are usually quite off.

If you want to enjoy the amazing colors of DIC, I would therefore highly recommend a trinocular head, even if you have to sacrifice a prism or maybe an objective in the beginning.

I understand your explanations. then I will buy body and condenser parts. later prisms, objectives and may be trinocular head. I hope firm staff accept my offer.

Hello,

I think its no good idea to buy a trinocular head later. Today a trinocular head is "standard"-equipment for hobby microscopists and everyone wants a trinocular head after a while. Everyone!  ;) Then you have to pay for a separate trinocular head and the binocular head was waste of money because noone will buy it.

Dear Solos,

If you like to set up a Leica DM2000 with DIC, you should take either N Plan objektives or (HC(X)) PL FLUOTAR objectives or of course (HC(X)) PL APOs.
They have to be original Leica objectives because only for these it is guaranteed, that they are fitting the Leica DIC prisms.
The objectives made by Leitz won´t fit!!! They are made for a tube lenght of 160 or 170mm while the ones made by Leica are objectives for infitity microscopes. And the Leitz objectives for transmitted light have different threads, but this ist not the main problem.
(There are few Leica objectives for tube lenght 160mm, too, but the N Plans and newer PL FLUOTARs / PL Apos mit M25 thread are the right ones.)

Another point: You write, there is the U-CA condenser included in your DM2000 offer. But you need a specific disc for it, which fit´s for the Leica DIC prisms. There are different discs. Some only fit for phase contrast.

Back to the objectives again. There are letters printed on each objectives for example oo/0.17/D. You need objectives with this Letters A, B, C, D, E.
Each letter stands for the DIC-prisms slide you need above the objective.

If you like to, I can offer you a complete LEICA (or Olympus (soon) or Leitz) DIC microscope, where everything fits/belongs together and works as it should  ;)
