You did it again :
You dig out a rarely (if ever) described, very interesting Ciliat, and you took staggering footage of it!
Can't add anything binding and definite to I.D.
But as far as I know, the family Spathidiidae has been revised over the past decade, and a lot of new species have been found. Most of them only disdinguishable by minute detail.
The newest paper I could find dealing your taxonomic guess is this one:

I think there is no proof of I.D. without protagol or PCR in this cases, even with your excellent footage. But maybe experts like Martin Kreutz could add some more valid information to this.

Where did you find this fellow?
In one of the sludge probes you also found Legendrea?
What size?

Du solltest dir auch diese relativ neu entdeckte Art ansehen, die wurde zwar ganz woanders entdeckt, sieht deinem Fund aber auf den ersten Blick auch sehr ähnlich:

Vielleicht lohnt sich ja auch ein Blick in diese taufrische Publikation. Da tut sich aktuell einiges:

Aber vielleicht können Experten wie Martin Kreutz ja auch so eventuell noch weitere valide Informationen liefern.

Wo hast du diesen Kerl gefunden?
In einer der Schlammproben in der du auch Legendrea gefunden hast?
Eine Größenangabe wäre bestimmt auch hilfreich.

Fossner describes it there is a "group" of species.

well, anothe Spathid for the family.
Im not gonna chase the species, thats the closest I could find at Foissner.
Found several specimens, ~300µm, same benthic sample.
The doraskl brush is very conspicous.
BTW, Im sure youve noticed whos the next star...

I can't contribute anything taxonomy-wise, but I must say this (and your other videos) is amazing footage! Truly outstanding microscopy!
And the species you so regularly find are incredible... I am getting a little jealous of your ponds which I am pretty sure by now are quite special (at least compared to what I can find over here in Northern Germany...).

probably. At least some of them are certainly eutrophic because of agriculture... But even in the unpolluted ones the diversity is nothing like that...

I haven't found Volvox in my ponds either. Only in Holger's lake and his samples.
