Thanks Ariel, great help for a big part of the world. Even though my understanding of german is OK-ish, it takes me considerable more time to understand compared to english.

What a shame Kahl's last manuscript was lost to the world. What a sad couple of years he must have had after the war.
Shameful to watch history repeating itself over and over.

Family and friends time, it is in the end all that mattered. Happy xmass.

Update: The file in the folder has been updated, and all page number references are now hyperlinked so that you can jump from each species to its illustration and vice versa.

Hi Ariel,

amazing work! I guess this took you many hours, not only for translating but also keeping the layout so close to the original.

Just out of interest: Did you use some translator (DeepL, Google Translate, ..) to get a first draft?

Jürgen

Ariel Qassis

Danke Jurgen.
The basic draft was based on ChatGPT, but of course, every word and term had to be checked, and there were a lot of mistakes. Kahl's often uses the same term for several meanings. Eg, "Zapfen" could mean a cone, a projection or a papillae, depending on context.
Regarding formatting, it took some time, but I've learned a lot from producing the 1st Vol. I'm in the middle of Vol.2, and it's much easier and consistent now.

tremendos work!
But I would indicate on the titlepage, that this is NOT a genuine English edition of 1930 but a recent translation of 2025.
